Building an Outdoor Wood Stove
Chad started researching how to build his own outdoor wood stove and discovered that it really wasn't too hard--just a lot of work. Since he is always up for a challenge and is extremely hard-working, he decided to go for it. A buddy of his from Evart had built one a few years ago, so he went and looked at his. He searched for the best prices on all the supplies and we will be able to complete it for under $2000 (he was able to use a few connections to get phenomenally low prices!). It will pay for itself in a year just in our propane savings!
He started cutting wood when we first decided to do a wood stove and has worked until sundown after work to get the wood all cut. We have almost all we need. He has just been cutting dead trees on our property and removed dead trees from our neighbors' property (which they are thankful for!) He had a few days off work the week of our anniversary and did most of the plumbing then. The plumbing is completed except for a few things he needs to get a special tool to do. We are waiting for a neighbor to help with the wiring.
He just picked up the propane tanks yesterday and went right to work cutting them open. Although I was concerned about explosions, he talked with someone who cuts propane tanks almost every day and learned a few tricks to stop the explosions. I am glad to say that they were cut without any explosions or injuries (but then of course the girls and I were praying the whole time!).
Please keep Chad in your prayers this weekend as it is his hope that he can get the remaining supplies and finish it. It will be nice to not to have to worry about the thermostat and not paying so much for hot water (yes, it will heat our water too which will greatly decrease our electric bill!).

Not Fair! Part 2
Tuesday I was reminded how even when God answers "no" to our prayers, it isn't because He's not being fair or being mean, but because He has our best interests at heart. His plans are better than our plans.
What reminded me of this is I was cleaning my desk and was once again reminded that a couple of years ago I had asked Chad to cut a piece of wood to fill in the open spot on our desk so you couldn't see the boxes we have stored under it. Well, he never got around to it even though I asked him numerous times. The funny thing is, the wood that I wanted him to use is the same wood that he used to build me the bookcase I posted a couple of weeks ago! If he would have done what I wanted him to do, then we wouldn't have had enough wood for the bookcase which is a need and the other was a want. I am so thankful that God said no to my prayer!
Lysa TerKeurst says in her book What Happens When Women Walk in Faith, "I must learn to be content with His provision today. . . . .God's dream must be experienced God's way. If you settle for anything else, you'll never be satisfied. "Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!" Isaiah 30:18
We may not like it at the time when God says no, but He knows better than us. I was extremely hurt when my relationship with my ex-fiance ended even though I had prayed that it wouldn't. However, I would never had met Chad and we wouldn't have our beautiful daughters if God had answered my prayer with a yes. Even though it was a hard experience to go through, I am so thankful that I did go through it. My life is tremendously blessed because God's plan was accomplished. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My wasy, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

Not Fair!
When encountering something that was not fair in her life, Lysa TerKeurst chose what she knew God wanted her to chose even though it went against her fleshly desires. I have been reading, What Happens When Women Walk in Faith by Lysa TerKeurst, she says,
I wanted to honor God even when my flesh screamed for me to do otherwise. And trust me, my feelings took a while to catch up, but eventually they did.
Though I'd made a different choice many times before, this time I chose wisely. It felt good. It felt freeing. It felt enabling. Somehow, this time, I'd battled the evil desires within me and won. Romans 12:1 says, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--This is your spiritual act of worship."
Even though we may feel like we are denying ourselves of something because we are the ones giving in or because we are losing out on something that is rightfully ours, we will have so much more if we would follow God's will. God will always bless us for being faithful. It may not be in the way we expect to be blessed or even how we want to be blessed, but He will bless us. It is so freeing to stop battling and give it all over to God. If it doesn't seem fair, it may be because we can't see the whole picture. It may be because God has something bigger for us and unless we give up the "fair" fight, we won't experience the greater blessing.
Be set free today. Offer yourself as a living sacrifice to God. You will be amazed at how free you feel!
